One Good Marriage by Sean Reycraft

Category: Non-Equity Audition
Pay: Split-portion of net profit

One Good Marriage finds Steph and Stewart celebrating their first anniversary. She is an English teacher; he is a high school librarian. As they revisit their first year of marriage, they cannot escape the terrible sorrow that looms over them. They returned from their delightful honeymoon to find the unthinkable had happened. It’s darkly comic, and yet incredibly touching.

Rabid Marmot Productions is looking to cast 1M & 1F, non-union actors, between 18-35.

Time Commitment:

One Good Marriage will run at the Living Room Playhouse the weeks of February 20 – March 4th, 2011 (Thursday – Sunday, 8 performances). Rehearsals will begin 2 to 3 times per week, based on actors’ schedules, mid-January.

From the Dramatist Play Service:

When CB’s dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group’s bullying, offers CB peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that’s both haunting and hopeful.

Rabid Marmot Productions is looking to cast 4M, 4W non-union actors between the ages of 18-30 able to play 15-18 for the following roles:

  • CB (Charlie Brown) – The show’s protagonist, on a quest to answer an existential question. Confused, insecure, and emotional.
  • CB’s SISTER (Sally) – CB’s little sister whose sense of self is ever-changing.
  • VAN (Linus) – CB’s stoner best friend and group philosopher.
  • VAN’s SISTER (Lucy) – CB’s former girlfriend and pseudo-psychiatrist; currently a pyromaniac and danger to society.
  • BEETHOVEN (Schroeder) – Social outcast and victim of bullying; finds solace in his music.
  • MATT (Pig Pen) – Alpha-male, sex-obsessed, and a pathological neat-freak.
  • TRICIA (Peppermint Patty) – A “Party Girl”; considers herself, but is really a “Mean Girl”
  • MARCY (Marcy) – The other, smarter half of Tricia’s clique.

*Please note that DOG SEES GOD contains mature subject matter and we are looking for actors who are comfortable with such.

Time Commitment:  The Performances will take place at PCL Studio Theatre from May 17th – 27th (12 performances).

The show will rehearse only 2 to 3 days per week depending on the actors’ schedules. Rehearsals will begin in Mid-March.
