Nominations Open for Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama

The Writers Guild of Alberta (WGA) is now accepting submissions for the 2012 Alberta Literary Awards

Prizes of $1500 are awarded in five categories, including the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama (published or produced). Entries are judged by an independent jury recruited by the WGA.  Submissions are evaluated on originality, creativity, and quality of writing, as well as appropriate fit within a category.

Anyone can make a nomination (including the playwright). Submissions must include a signed Entry Form, a $25 entry fee and five copies of the play. Entries must be mailed to the WGA, postmarked no later than December 31, 2011. Download the entry form here.

The 2011 Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama was awarded to Calgary playwright, Meg Braem, for her play Blood: A Scientific Romance.

In 2005, FFWD Weekly ran a neat little article about Gwen Pharis Ringwood and the award that is given out annually in her name. Click here to have a read.
