Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC), in partnership with Stage West Theatre Restaurants, proudly announces two new national playwriting awards.
Through the generous support of Stage West Theatre Restaurants, Playwrights Guild of Canada will administer an award for Best New Comedy ($5000) and Best New Musical ($5000) written by a member of PGC.
Robin Sokoloski, Executive Director of PGC said, “These two new awards will be great opportunities for Canadian playwrights, and will help raise the status of comedy and musical writing for the stage in this country. Howard Pechet, Executive Producer of Stage West is certainly a champion for strengthening a healthy and vibrant Canadian arts sector”.
Guidelines and applications forms will be made available in January 2012, along with information on PGC’s Carol Bolt Award for Playwrights and PGC’s Post-Secondary Playwriting Competition.
Updates on PGC’s awards program will be made available at: www.playwrightsguild.ca/about/awards
