The Shakespeare Company Announces the Departure of Iam Coulter, Artistic Producer
The Board of Directors of The Shakespeare Company regrets to announce the resignation of its Artistic Producer, Iam Coulter, effective December 2011. Coulter, who has been the face of The Shakespeare Company for the last eight seasons, has decided to embark on new challenges within the theatre community.
Iam Coulter joined the Company in 2003 and was appointed Artistic Producer the following year. During her tenure, Coulter took the mandate of The Shakespeare Company to new heights through fundraising events, touring productions, the introduction of a permanent stage location in the Vertigo Theatre, and the development of educational outreach programs for the youth in the city of Calgary. She brought a unique and enthusiastic appreciation of the Bard’s classics to our city and its neighbours. She truly is the Bard’s ambassador.
Her critically acclaimed production of Macbeth was one of highlights of The Shakespeare Company’s 2010 season. It set audiences abuzz and won three Betty Mitchell Award nominations. Her recent Shakespeare-inspired production of The Queens was a step away from the historical Shakespeare works, but offered audiences a unique, female perspective on the story of Richard III, produced earlier in the 2011 season.
The Board of Directors sincerely appreciates Coulter’s efforts to develop and showcase the talent of both community and professional actors, and to present inspired productions through insightful, passionate directing. The Board will greatly miss Coulter’s patient and positive interaction with our collaborators. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours, Iam!
The Board of Directors will be seeking a dynamic individual to become the new Artistic Producer. Further information regarding applications for this position will be forthcoming; in the interim, please direct any queries to Mr. Ken Hanley, President, at [email protected] [exeunt]
