AFA welcomes new members to its Board of Directors

Welcome to new members of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Board of Directors

The AFA is pleased to announce the appointments of Karl Schwonik and Stephen Krasnow to the AFA Board of Directors.

Karl Schwonik comes to the Board of Directors with considerable experience in Alberta’s arts community as a performer, organizer and artistic director. He is an award-winning drummer with an accomplished educational background and extensive performing experience. Karl is also the founder and president of the Wetaskiwin Jazz Society, offering performances, in-school residencies and summer youth camps to the local community.

Stephen Krasnow possesses extensive corporate and board experience that make him a valuable addition to the Board of Directors. His professional career has included being the co-founder and managing director of several institutional investment funds and industrial businesses. Stephen has also served as a director for community-based and post secondary educational not-for-profit organizations in Alberta. Believing in the importance of nurturing culture, Stephen and his family are long-time supporters of the performing arts in Calgary and have a great appreciation, as collectors, of Canadian art.
