Introducing Concrete Theatre’s New General Manager

Concrete Theatre’s Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that Gail M. Yakemchuk is joining the company as General Manager effective August 15, 2011.

Gail comes to Concrete from a career in the independent film, television and broadcasting industries.  She has worked as a Development Officer at City TV/CHUM Television and has longtime ties to children and youth through her work as Executive Director of the Shaw Children’s Programming (Rocket) Fund and as a board member of Chinook Theatre.  In her career in the private and public sectors she has worked at Karvonen Films Ltd., ACCESS Television, CKUA Radio, Alberta Motion Picture Development Corporation and consulted to numerous independent production companies. She has also been an executive board member of the Edmonton International Film Festival, Women in Film and Television International and Canadian Women in Communications and has worked as a dedicated volunteer for many arts, cultural and community organizations.

We are very grateful to our outgoing General Manager, Debbie Geisbrecht for her assistance in helping Gail transition into her new role.

“I’m thrilled to work with a company that offers me the opportunity to merge creative integrity, artistic desirability and practical necessity. Combining my professional experience with my enthusiasm for children and young people is a sincere pleasure.”
Gail M. Yakemchuk

“We are delighted with Gail’s appointment and are looking forward to working with her as we move into our 22nd season. After an amazing year that included Awards for Outstanding Production for Young Audiences at both the Sterling Awards for our world premiere of Mark Haroun’s Under Cover and at Toronto’s Dora Awards for Collin Doyle’s Routes, we are eager to see where the company will grow under Gail’s stewardship.”
Caroline Howarth & Mieko Ouchi, Artistic Co-Directors

“The board is pleased to welcome Gail to Concrete and looks forward to working together.”
Jennifer Agrell-Smith, Board Chair
