This is not Tom Clancy’s latest novel. This fall, theatre artists from across the province will gather in Calgary to explore the Rules of Engagement.

rules of en•gáge•ment tagline
  1. Social, political, and public engagement. Engaging the audience. Engaging the body, voice, and mind. Engaging with other artists.
  2. What battles are we fighting as Canadian theatre artists? Where, when, and how will force be used?
  3. Breaking the rules, pushing boundaries, treading new ground.

Theatre Alberta and Alberta Playwrights’ Network are thrilled to present Judith Thompson on a rare visit to Western Canada. A master at breaking the rules and provoking audiences, don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from one of our nation’s most celebrated theatre artists.

PlayWorks Ink 2008 is breaking new ground. This year we’re offering day passes to accommodate your busy schedule and bursaries to include artists in financial need. Our keynote address is sponsored by Alberta Theatre Projects and our opening reception is sponsored by Juilliard Restaurant & Lounge — two fortuitous new partnerships. We’ve taken programming to the edge, featuring a two-day master class with Stratford voice coach David Ley and new plays by members of the Playwrights’ Development Centres of Canada.

Join us in Calgary for a weekend of workshops, play readings, socials, and discussions.
