DANIEL MacIVOR is playwright-in-residence at Tarragon Theatre in Toronto. For 20 years he and Sherrie Johnson ran da da kamera, an internationally respected company that toured his work to Australia, Israel, Europe, the UK, and extensively throughout Canada and the United States. With Daniel Brooks, he has created the solo shows House, Here Lies Henry, Monster, Cul-desac, and This Is What Happens Next. Daniel’s play In On It garnered him an Obie Award and a GLAAD Award. Daniel is a recipient of the Governor General’s Literary Awards for Drama and the Elinore and Lou Siminovitch Prize for Theatre.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Jonathan Christenson, and with the ongoing collaboration of resident designer Bretta Gerecke, Edmonton-based Catalyst Theatre has become celebrated for its highly integrated, distinctive theatrical aesthetic and recognized with over 50 awards and nominations. Catalyst’s works, including The House of Pootsie Plunket, The Blue Orphan, Frankenstein, and Nevermore have toured extensively across Canada and internationally. The company’s most recent production, Hunchback, was commissioned by the Citadel Theatre, where it premièred in March 2011.

Ken Cameron
Ken Cameron is a Calgary-based playwright who has written more than 15 plays including Harvest, which has been produced across Canada. My Morocco and My One And Only were both nominated for Betty Mitchell Awards and are collected in NeWest Press’ Harvest and Other Plays. Jonathan Christenson
Jonathan Christenson has been the Artistic Director of Catalyst Theatre since 1997, where he has directed, written, composed, and/or performed in sixteen original productions including Hunchback, Nevermore, Frankenstein, The Blue Orphan, The House of Pootsie Plunket, and Elephant Wake. Jonathan also teaches in the University of Alberta’s Department of Drama, where he completed an MFA (Directing) in 1996.

Bretta Gerecke
Bretta Gerecke has Catalyst Theatre’s Resident Designer since 1998; she is responsible for all visual design elements in Catalyst Theatre productions. Bretta designs regularly for The Citadel Theatre, Edmonton Opera, Calgary Opera and Theatre Calgary as well as for a wide range of companies across Canada. Recognized for her affinity for new work and its development process, Bretta is the recipient of over twenty awards and has been shortlisted twice for the Siminovitch Prize.

Karen Hines
Karen Hines is an award-winning writer, performer, and director in theatre, film, and television. She is currently playwright-in-residence at Alberta Theatre Projects and her new play Drama will be presented there this year.

Laura Krewski
Laura Krewski is the choreographer for Catalyst Theatre where she has worked on Frankenstein, Nevermore and Hunchback. She has also recently choreographed productions for Victoria’s Belfry Theatre, Vancouver’s Arts Club Theatre, Edmonton Opera, Citadel Theatre, LYKTP), Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Lunchbox Theatre, River City Shakespeare Festival, The Mayfield Dinner Theatre and Globe Theatre. Laura is based in Edmonton.

Jane MacFarlane
Jane MacFarlane is a voice coach and teacher, actor, and director. She has coached over 30 productions in Calgary in the past ten years. Jane is an instructor in the Department of Theatre, Speech & Music at Mount Royal University and is the resident voice coach at Theatre Calgary.

Anita Miotti
Anita Miotti is a Calgary-based choreographer/dancer/actor who writes, performs and produces her own work. She is founding artistic director of Theatre of the Living Statue and has worked for many educational institutions and most theatre companies in Alberta. Anita recently created a Balinese style shadow performance at The Saddledome for His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

Tololwa Mollel
Tololwa Mollel is an Edmonton-based author who has written over 16 children’s books, as well as several plays and stories for performance; some of his books have been translated into various languages. Betty Moulton
Betty Moulton is the voice and text coach for Catalyst Theatre and has over 30 years experience teaching voice, speech and text across North America. She heads the MFA program in Theatre Voice and teaches voice in the BFA acting program at the University of Alberta. Betty coaches each year in the Banff/Citadel Professional Program and collaborated with Catalyst on both Nevermore and Hunchback.

Kristine Nutting
Kristine Nutting is an independent Edmonton artist who writes, performs and produces large-scale theatre shows that tour non-conventional spaces across Canada. Her productions of Pig and Three Sisters: A Black Opera In Three Acts have been regarded as entertaining, grotesque, and meta-theatrical. Kristine has taught drama at the university level for over 10 years.

Mieko Ouchi
Mieko Ouchi is an Edmonton-based actor, writer, director and filmmaker. Her plays have been produced across the country and been shortlisted for the 4 Play Series at The Old Vic in London, the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama, and the City of Edmonton Book Prize, winning the Carol Bolt Award.

Vanessa Porteous
Vanessa Porteous is the Artistic Director of Alberta Theatre Projects in Calgary, where she programs a season of contemporary plays, and directs and works as a new play dramaturg. She has directed workshops, readings, new plays, less new plays, puppet shows, and operas in both official languages.

Elyne Quan
Elyne Quan is a Toronto-based playwright, actor, director, and dramaturg and an alumna of the University of Alberta, New York University and the Canadian Film Centre. She is the author of Stray, Look Both Ways, Souvenirs of Home, Lig & Bittle (with Jared Matsunaga-Turnbull), Trust, and What. She is President of the Playwrights Guild of Canada.

Trevor Rueger
Trevor Rueger is an actor, director, writer, and dramaturg. During his 20-year career he has performed in many theatres around Alberta and he has been dramaturgically involved in the development of over 100 new plays. Trevor is Executive Director of Alberta Playwrights’ Network.

Joe-Norman Shaw
Joe-Norman Shaw is Co-Director of Calgary’s Company of Rogues’ Actors Studio/Rogues Theatre and an acting instructor at Mount Royal University and St. Mary’s University College. Joe has performed in theatres across Canada including Vertigo Theatre, Alberta Theatre Projects, Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, the National Arts Centre and the Citadel Theatre. Film/TV credits include Everest, Crazy Canucks, Supernatural and Tom Stone.
