Search for  New Artistic Director Begins at Alberta Theatre Projects.

Calgary, AB, April 29 – ATP has commenced its national search to find a successor for long-time Artistic Director Bob White.
Following the 2008/2009 Season Launch in March, Artistic Director Bob White announced that he would not be seeking to renew his contract with Alberta Theatre Projects after the 2008/2009 season. ATP has announced that it is now soliciting to review applications from those interested in becoming only the fourth Artistic Director in the Company’s storied 35-year history.

This exciting position plays a key role in the very development of Canadian contemporary theatre on a national scale. ATP’s Artistic Director plays a central role in the programming of each season and the nationally acclaimed annual Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays and is charged with guiding the artistic growth for the Company from year to year. The new Artistic Director will define and inspire the artistic vision of this nationally acclaimed theatre Company.  They will provide outstanding leadership and motivation for the entire company, playing an integral role in the dynamism and spirit of ATP.

Alberta Theatre Projects is a Calgary based company producing and annual subscription series of four cornerstone plays, a family holiday presentation and the annual Enbridge playRites Festival of New Canadian Plays.  ATP’s work is a celebration of Canadian theatrical talent and showcases recent Canadian and international successes. ATP has an annual operating budget of $4 million and an average annual attendance of 35,000 audience members.  The company is in excellent financial condition having enjoyed surpluses for the last 6 fiscal years.  ATP employs eighteen full time staff, approximately 85 artists seasonally and over 200 casual workers throughout the year.  At its full capacity, the Board of Directors numbers 18 members.
