Theatre Alberta Programmer Required
Theatre Alberta is seeking a motivated and organized individual for the position of Programmer. Major responsibilities will include: editor of Theatre Alberta newsletter, programming of PlayWorks Ink, programming of electronic newsletter, and assistance with Artstrek administration.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required, as well as a post-secondary degree (major or minor) in theatre. Excellent word processing skills and some experience with database management and web design are also preferred. Experience in a Macintosh environment is desirable, however, candidates with experience in a PC environment will be considered.
We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about theatre, enjoys dealing with people, and is able to work both independently and as a team player. This is a full time position at 35 hours per week. Some travel will be required.
Major areas of responsibility
Communications
- Identify themes, topics, and appropriate timely information for Theatre Alberta News (print publication)
- Solicit, coordinate, and write newsletter articles and public service announcements
- Act as Theatre Alberta liaison with designer and printer, edit and proof all copy
- Preparation and programming of monthly electronic newsletter
PlayWorks Ink
- Participate on planning committee with Alberta Playwrights’ Network and Theatre Alberta staff
- Coordinate Theatre Alberta programming including: workshop and instructor recommendations, instructor liaison, site liaison
- Preparation of brochure copy and instructor contracts
- liaison with designer and printer, edit and proof all copy
- Coordination of marketing
- Onsite liaison with facility, instructors and participants
Artstrek
- Coordinate script selection process
- Participate in instructor selection process
- Preparation of brochure copy, instructor and supervisor contracts
- Coordination of marketing
- Ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of program
Theatre Alberta is a provincial organization located in Edmonton providing programs and services to Alberta’s theatre community. We offer a number of programs year-round including theatre workshops, summer schools, and information and advocacy resources.
