QUICK SEARCH
This search method is displayed as soon as you log on to our online catalogue. It is the Home page and can be accessed from every page in the catalogue by clicking on any Home link located on the upper and lower blue bars on each page.

Quick Search allows you to quickly and easily search the catalogue without having to enter a lot of information. Simply enter your search criteria in the empty field located in the center of the screen. This field allows for both single and multiple word searches.
After entering the information you wish to search for, select one of the large buttons to define what area of the catalogue to search. Searches based on Keywords, SoundsLike, Subject, Title and Author can all be conducted here.
Please note that the Series and Editor/Illustrator search methods are not available.
TIP
When performing a Quick Search, whatever you type at the beginning of your specified Search Area will be searched for. In other words, if you were searching for the word " cat " in the Title field, you would get all titles beginning with "cat", including titles like " Cat in the Hat, The", " Cat astrophic Flight Error, The " and " Cat cher in the Rye, The".
If you only want to find Items with exactly the word(s) you specify, you need to place a period " . " after the word you type in the Quick Search field. If we now type " cat . " and search the Keyword field, we will only get items that have the word "cat" in them. Items like " Cat in the Hat, The", " Cat Cat Cat ", "My Favorite Cat " etc.
If you want to find a specific word anywhere in an item, you should place the wildcard character "@"in front of the word you wish to search for, i.e. if we searched on "@ cat " in the Keyword field, items like "The Case of the Cat 's Meow", "Cross Country Cat ", "Charlie the Cat erpillar" and even "Mystery Va cat ion" will be displayed.
These search techniques are very beneficial when you are trying to narrow or expand your search of the catalogue.
