Position Description:
The Marketing and Development Assistant is responsible for the administrative aspects of all marketing and development activities.
Reporting to both the Communications & Marketing Manager and the Fund Development Manager, this full-time position supports two related functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Communications & Marketing
• Coordinate production and distribution of marketing materials
• Maintain website and update with current information as needed
• Implement social media marketing activities
• Assist with development and implementation of sales promotions
• Distribute monthly newsletters and other mass email communications using e-marketing software
• Assist with subscription sales and ticket sales
• Prepare media materials for distribution (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
• Other duties as assigned by the Communications & Marketing Manager

Fund Development
• Assist with proposal writing for funding requests
• Prepare donation acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
• Maintain corporation and individual donor files
• Schedule meetings with individual and corporate sponsors
• Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed
• Continually update and correct database records
• Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate and individual donors

Qualifications:
• A minimum of three years' experience in an administrative position
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and either Photoshop or InDesign

• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Ability to work independently with little supervision

Mount Royal University is searching for a Theatre Technician Generalist on a contract basis until at least June 15, 2011. This full time position reports to the Lead Theatre Technician.
The Conservatory operates the Leacock Theatre, the Wright Theatre and the Nickle Theatre at the Mount Royal University Lincoln Park Campus. The theatres are operated as a community resource, a strategic asset to the University and as an essential element of the Conservatory’s world class performance education programming, both credit and credit-free. The Conservatory reaches more than 4500 individual students per year in the areas of music, theatre and speech. The Conservatory Theatres present more than 600 performances and recitals per year.

As one of two full time front line Theatre Technician – Generalists on contract, this Theatre Technician will provide basic theatre technical support to a variety of users of the University live theatre performance venues. Maintaining a safe workplace, consistent, professional, reliable operations while also realizing cost efficiency is a requirement. While teaching is not involved, an understanding of the pedagogical processes and issues ranging from Early Childhood to pre-professional and post secondary. The incumbent will be expected to work irregular hours on a 140 hours per 28 day schedule. This is a fixed term contract position that falls outside of the Mount Royal University Support Staff agreement. Overtime may be required from time to time.

This candidate will have additional experience working with live sound and recording of classical and Jazz; digital mixing consoles and a broad spectrum of professional audio equipment. The successful candidate will have a well-rounded experience in all areas of technical theatre that will meet the requirements of our three main client groups.

Duties will include all areas of theatre production support, specifically:

  • Assist with event Set Up and Strike as required.
  • Set up and operation of audio equipment for a variety of lectures, recording, live music and pre-recorded performances. Equipment inventory includes a wide range of digital sound equipment such as the Meyer/LCS Cue Station and WIldTracks system, Yamaha DM2000, etc.
  • Hang, focus and lighting board operations.
  • Rigging including set up and operation of ProLite Truss, C&M Motors, manual counterweight and J. R. Clancy SureLift / SceneControl 500 fly systems.
  • Set- up and operation of computer/video projection presentations.
  • For internal University Clients, the venues frequently operate with only one technician supported by client volunteers. As such the technician is expected to provide direction or, guidance and support as necessary.
  • Perform maintenance and upkeep to all theatrical equipment during off-peak times.
  • Ensure inventory is tracked, backstage and work areas are lit and uncluttered
  • Maintain awareness and keep skill set up to date with respect to first aid and safety and health of co-workers and audience members.

Preliminary screening of Candidates will be based on the following:
• Diploma in Technical Theatre or similar credential strongly preferred
• 2 years experience in a performance theatre environment.
• Technical Knowledge and evidence of personal learning and upgrading or currency in technical theatre specialties.
• Experience with Classical and Jazz Music Performance Support.
• Experience in an Educational Environment
• Computer Literacy

We are creating a database of artists from various towns and cities across Alberta. Our Community Engagement programs are looking for artists to help facilitate art programs with children, teenagers and adults.

The information you provide will not be sold and will only be given out with artists’ permission. Being on our database will allow you to have early notice of opportunities and events with the Community Engagement at the Jubilee, including call for submissions and workshops.

The Community Engagement programs are looking for a wide variety of artists. We seek artists with experience in but are not limited to: theatre, music, performance, visual art, and dance.

We encourage artists who have worked with the Community Engagement programs at the Jubilee to submit information, because the database is new and we would like to know if previous artists are interested or are not interested in being part of our database.
