This work takes participants on a journey to discover, invent, and dream a personal mythology that leads to their own unique clown. This is clown that speaks to today — an archetype that reveals the essence of the performer, as well as the possibility of touching each other in a moment of laughter. The Business of Directing

July 13 – 15, 2007
Friday
6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Saturday
and Sunday 10 AM – 5 PM

Instructor: BRADLEY MOSS
Artistic Directors have a lot of big questions to ask and answer before they get into the rehearsal hall. How do you find the right play at the right time for your audience? Who is your audience anyway, and how do you build and challenge them? How do you put together your “most exciting season ever” and still be on budget? This is a workshop for directors and educators with some directing experience who are looking to rejuvenate themselves, their artists/students and their audiences. We will explore the role of the director/teacher in choosing appropriate plays, developing strong audience relationships, and providing leadership to the artists/students around you, as well as touch on preparing to direct the productions once chosen. Learn how to connect the art of the direction with the business of direction. Come prepared with examples of past seasons/productions and ideas for 2007/2008.
