What is an Artstrek Super?
Artstrek Supervisors (or Supers) are former Artstrek participants who have been away from the program for at least one year and return to the program in a leadership position. They love the Artstrek program and work incredibly hard to ensure the students’ health and happiness.
Many Supers are students or recent graduates of post-secondary drama programs from around the province and can provide valuable insight to participants about their formal training. Our student/supervisor ratio is 12/1.
Supervisor Responsibilities
Supers are responsible for students during out-of-class time and ensure that students get up in the morning and get to sleep at night. They run the morning warm-up, supervise during meals, breaks, and free time, organize evening activities, and conduct evening dorm meetings.
Super & Senior Super Selection
Artstrek Supervisors are selected from applicants who have previously attended Artstrek, have been away from the program for at least one year, and who are 19 to 25 years of age.
The number of Supers selected depends on program enrollment for that particular summer. Recent summers have typically required between 8–10 Supers (both males and females). These people are enthusiastic, compassionate, and accountable leaders and are able to mentor, guide, and motivate the Artstrek students.
The Senior Supervisor is selected from applicants who have previously been a Supervisor at Artstrek. The position requires a person (or in the case of two Senior Supervisors, a male and a female) with strong leadership and communication skills and someone who is able to motivate and guide both the Supervisors and Artstrek students.
