A comedic romp about a woman married to herself. From the creator of the recent Fringe hit ONEymoon – a honeymoon for one, a sequel with a not quite happily-ever-aftermath. Meet Caroline Bierman, an uncompromising perfectionist who vows to forsake all others and marry herself, but who still ends up struggling to accept the realities of life once the honeymoon phase is over. Join her as she prepares her anniversary dinner and share her frantic pursuit of domestic bliss, as her perfectionism makes her oblivious to the obvious. Every relationship, no matter how selective or
carefully orchestrated, always has its problems. This new solo work from Bartelse promises another trademark high energy performance filled with zany wit, dance, improv, audience participation, and a sneaky tug at the heart.

Fringe (Edmonton) “Invisible Child: Leilani Muir and the Alberta Eugenics Board” – MAA & PAA Theatre

In 1995, Leilani Muir launched one of the greatest David and Goliath battles of our history, suing the province for wrongful confinement and sterilization. Her lawsuit exploded into a class action lawsuit, provoked a constitutional challenge and lead to an international debate over our history of eugenic policies. MAA & PAA Theatre (Firing Lines ’11, Unmarried Wife ’10, Letters from Battle River ’07) weaves her story together with a frank and sometimes funny examination of new waves in eugenics.

Invisible Child is directed by Vincent Forcier, and features Randy Brososky, Linda Grass and Jenny McKillop. It is written by David Cheoros, with Leilani O’Malley and LM Morin.

PRAISE FOR:

Fools for Love…

“A treat of hilarity and whimsy. Jan Henderson and company have created a lesson in imagination with the stellar duo of Lesiak and Keefe. This is what good clowning is all about – virtuosic, full of heart, and funny.” – Adam Lazarus, Artistic Director, Toronto Festival of Clowns

“true humanity… many layers of sweet and humorous. A touching and very engaging show.” – Thomas Scott’s mom, Allanah Scott

Sofa So Good…

“The beauty of this play (and the non-stop laughs that accompany it) is this terrific intersection where simplicity of set and props meets light hearted and insanely creative ideas… you’re excited to watch it happen.” – 4 Stars, See Magazine, Edmonton

“I wouldn’t want to do without seeing the likes of Edmonton-based Small Matters Productions… endless creative and comedic possibilities… wicked, well-conceived comedy.” – 4 Stars, Uptown Magazine, Winnipeg

“… Rocket (Adam Keefe) and Sheshells (Christine Lesiak), may have redeemed clowns for an entire generation… an emotional, heart-warming and hilarious adventure…” – 4 Stars, The Star Phoenix, Saskatoon

“I hate clowns… I just don’t think clowns are funny or clever or in any way poignant. Or at least, I didn’t. Sofa So Good, in a single production, has turned my head upside down when it comes to clowns… I laughed a lot at this show. I laughed at the silliness and at the joyous physicality, but mostly I laughed at the truth of it all.” – 4 Stars, CBC Winnipeg

“these aren’t just your average clowns… silly, cute, naive … and yes, slightly naughty” – 4 Stars, The Edmonton Journal

Fundraiser (Alberta) – Angels of Rosebud – Rosebud Centre of the Arts

ANGELS OF ROSEBUD Fundraising Campaign

Become an Angel of Rosebud, and help Rosebud Centre of the Arts fly this summer.

There’s a story early in the life of Rosebud Centre of the Arts about a woman who had a vision where she saw angels standing on the hills surrounding Rosebud. They stood as sentinels, keeping vigil over the valley and all who studied, worked and played there. It may be that the angels seen in her vision were actually people like you and me, contributing what we have in order to see Rosebud Centre of the Arts flourish in our valley like so many Alberta wild roses. Now there is a way for you to become one of those Rosebud Angels.

Please consider becoming an Angel of Rosebud by making a donation of $100 this summer. By pooling resources with other like-minded supporters, your individual donation can make a difference in Rosebud’s iconic valley where students, artists and patrons gather for an experience like no other.

CAMPAIGN ENDS Aug 25th, 2012

Donations can be made through our Box Officer box office at 1-800-267-7553, on line at http://www.rosebudtheatre.com/support-us.html or by mail to Box 654, Rosebud, AB T0J 2T0. (Please make cheques payable to: Rosebud School of the Arts)

Donors will receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the donation as well as public acknowledgement in the lobby of the Rosebud Opera House . If you require more information, please contact: Karl Sine, Development Co-ordinator Email: development@rosebudcentreofthearts.com.
